    Work Year: 9 months, Full-time

    • High School Diploma, GED, AA Degree preferred.
    • Minimum one year of experience with students with social emotional and behavioral needs
    • Current fingerprint clearance card with Arizona Dept of Safety
    • Training and experience in group therapy, individual counseling, and behavioral support / intervention techniques, safety procedures and protocol
    • Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively with an IEP and/or treatment team
    • Demonstrate leadership skills, communication and mediation skills; collect data and clinical documentation of behavior
    • Required/Completed CPI Training
    • First Aid and CPR Certificate required
    • Bilingual in Navajo and English preferred

    Job Goal:
    • Under direct supervision of Classroom teacher and Educational Services Director, provide instructional, behavioral, and related support to high needs behavior students within the Page Unified School District.

    Essential Duties:
    • Works with high needs behavior students
    • Meets/greets and escorts students to various activities and sites
    • Assists with student supervisory responsibilities both in and outside the classroom
    • Handles crisis in a professional/calm manner following established protocols and intervention procedures according to CPI strategies.
    • Assist in de-escalating student behavior and implementing crisis intervention strategies
    • Write incident reports/provide documentation as instructed
    • Assists teacher in preparing and presenting instructional activities and lessons with individual students and small groups
    • Assists with testing, instruction and other learning activities, as assigned by the teacher
    • Assists in maintaining student files, records, grade sheets, attendance, and other classroom records
    • Assists with planning and implementation of class projects and special events
    • Helps provide guidance and serves as the main resource for substitute staff
    • Performs clerical duties as required including typing, inventory, filing, order supplies, etc.
    • Assists in maintaining a positive classroom environment ensuring neatness and attractiveness of the classroom; organizes and prepares classroom for various teaching activities
    • Participates in in-service training programs as directed
    • Maintains confidentiality of all information regarding students
    • Assists in annual inventory of equipment and materials in assigned area
    • Performs Substitute Teacher duties on an as-needed basis
    • Maintains positive, professional relationships with staff, students, parents and referral sources
    • Monitors, supervises, and records daily behavior of students (inside and outside the classroom) with data collection process
    • Assists teacher in implementing school and classroom procedures and behavior plans
    • Participate in IEP meetings and staffing to provide reports of academic / behavioral performance as needed
    • Receive and make phone calls to / from parents, staff, and outside agencies as directed
    • Other duties as assigned

    Working Environment:
    Normal classroom setting with moderate physical activity; must be physically capable of implementing crisis intervention techniques

    Supervise students as directed by Special Education teacher
